King Crimson Islands CD and Blu-Ray 2026 Dolby Atmos & Elemental mixes Digipak
KING CRIMSON Islands (2026 Dolby Atmos & Elemental Mixes UK/EU 2-disc CD & Blu-ray Audio with Dolby Atmos 5.1 DTS-HD MA 24/96 Surround & Hi-Res Stereo mixes)The fourth King Crimson album first released in 1971 and for many years somewhat underappreciated in the bands history regarded simply as one of those albums between undisputed classics In the Court of the Crimson King and Larks Tongues in Aspic. In recent times however the album has been reassessed and celebrated for its unique place in the Crimson catalogue a process accelerated by new stereo and surround mixes and the inclusion of key tracks in recent live sets. For this definitive edition Steven Wilson returns to the album for a transformative Dolby Atmos mix bringing new depth and clarity to the original recordings. Alongside King Crimson producer David Singleton presents a set of Elemental Mixes offering radically different takes on the familiar songs by exploring alternate takes and studio sessions providing fans with a compelling standalone listening experience and an essential companion to the original album. The release also includes the 30th anniversary remaster the complete 1971 recording sessions and a 1972 live set in Quadraphonic.Islands captures King Crimson in a brief but fertile formation closing one chapter of the bands history while quietly sketching the next. Musically it stretches the groups early sound to its limits hinting at the tougher stranger and more open-ended directions to come. Presented in replica mini-vinyl style packaging with booklet.
